Blancpain
Blancpain – Swiss Haute Horlogerie since 1735
Blancpain is one of Switzerland’s most storied and prestigious watch manufactures. The brand’s history dates back to 1735, when Jehan-Jacques Blancpain registered as a watchmaker in the Swiss village of Villeret. This makes Blancpain the oldest watch brand in the world still in existence.
A defining milestone in the manufacture's history is the Fifty Fathoms, introduced in 1953 and recognized as the first modern diver's watch. Originally developed for professional divers, it combined high water resistance, a unidirectional rotating bezel, excellent legibility, and a robust mechanical movement. In doing so, the Fifty Fathoms set numerous benchmarks that continue to influence the development of professional diver's watches to this day.
Today, Blancpain stands for sophisticated mechanical *Haute Horlogerie*, traditional craftsmanship, and technical innovation. The manufacture develops and produces high-quality mechanical movements and complex timepieces, combining traditional finishing techniques with modern technical solutions. The brand is part of the Swiss Swatch Group.
In addition to the legendary Fifty Fathoms, the product range includes collections such as Villeret, Fifty Fathoms, Bathyscaphe, and Métiers d’Art. Blancpain views its watches not merely as timekeepers, but as an expression of centuries-old watchmaking artistry, technical expertise, and exceptional craftsmanship.
